Rudeus Greyrat equipment shows how Mushoku Tensei turns magical theory into practical technology.
Rudeus begins with a treasured staff. Later, he gains an anti-magic stone, a functional prosthetic arm, defensive gear from Orsted, long-range communication tools, four generations of Magic Armor and specialized Stone Cannon weapons.
The fourteen pieces of equipment in this guide do not replace his talent. Each one solves a limitation: improving spell efficiency, compensating for his inability to use Battle Aura, hiding him from Hitogami or converting Stone Cannon into a true weapon system.
Major light novel spoilers: This article discusses Rudeus’ lost arm, his alliance with Orsted and equipment introduced beyond the currently animated story.

1. How Magic Tools and Magic Items Work
Magic tools use carved magic circles. The user supplies mana and activates a fixed magical effect. Magic items instead carry a unique ability inside the object and respond to a specific trigger.
For Rudeus, equipment matters because he has an enormous mana pool but cannot naturally use Battle Aura. Swordsmen reinforce their bodies directly. Rudeus builds external systems that turn mana into protection, speed and physical strength.
Rudeus often solves a physical limitation by engineering a better way to use mana.
1. Aqua Heartia: Rudeus’ First Great Treasure
The staff commonly called Aqua Heartia carries the formal name Arrogant Water Dragon King.
Eris Boreas Greyrat gives it to Rudeus for his tenth birthday. Its A-rank materials include wood from an Elder Treant and a fist-sized magic stone taken from a stray dragon on the Begaritt Continent.
The staff amplifies Water Magic five times, Earth Magic three times, Wind Magic three times and Fire Magic twice.
Its emotional value is equally important. Ruijerd Superdia understands that Rudeus cannot easily sell it, even when the group needs money. Rudeus later keeps the staff as a treasured possession, and Lara Greyrat eventually receives it when she leaves home with Leo.

2. The Mana Absorbing Stone
Rudeus obtains the Mana Absorbing Stone from the Manatite Hydra.
Despite its name, it does not simply store mana. When mana is applied to its rear surface, the front emits a wave that breaks down magic in a manner similar to Disturb Magic.
The stone can cancel completed spells, but it requires mana roughly equal to the attack being neutralized. Rudeus can exploit it because his mana capacity is exceptional.
- Stable magical constructs are not automatically destroyed.
- Unstable magical attacks can be broken apart.
- Magic circles remain intact.
- Barriers produced by those circles can be canceled.
Rudeus later installs the stone in Zariff’s Prosthetic Arm, creating a compact anti-magic tool at the cost of reduced magical efficiency through that arm.
3. Zariff’s Prosthetic Arm
Zariff’s Prosthetic Arm develops from Zanoba Shirone’s doll research with help from Cliff Grimoire.
After Rudeus loses his left hand during the battle with the Manatite Hydra, the same technology becomes a functional replacement.
The activation command is “Oh Earth, become thine arm,” while “Oh Arm, return to Earth” deactivates it.
The artificial hand provides tactile feedback and lets the user adjust its strength by changing the amount of mana supplied. Later versions add combat functions, including a Rocket Punch-style extension.

4–5. Orsted’s Coat and the Dragon God’s Bracelet
4. Orsted’s Coat
Orsted’s white coat is made from the pelt of an ancient white dragon. It possesses exceptional physical and magical defense and can restore itself after damage and aging.
For Rudeus, the coat functions as high-grade protection that partially compensates for his inability to use Battle Aura.
5. The Dragon God’s Bracelet
The Dragon God’s Bracelet carries Orsted’s crest. It prevents Hitogami’s future sight from observing the wearer and obscures the immediate surroundings.
Strategic value: The bracelet removes Rudeus from the information network Hitogami once used to manipulate his life.
6. The Lithograph Stone
The Lithograph Stone allows long-distance written communication.
Anything written on the main stone appears on the paired sub-stone. It requires mana, so it never becomes an ordinary household object, but it is ideal for the Orsted Corporation.
In practice, it functions like remote text messaging in the Six-Faced World and lets Rudeus coordinate allies without sending a physical messenger.
7–10. The Four Major Magic Armor Models
The Magic Armor project expands the same principles used in Zariff’s Prosthetic Arm. Rudeus begins developing it after receiving information from his future self and preparing to challenge Orsted.
7. Magic Armor Mk I
The Mk I is roughly three meters tall, extremely bulky and consumes an enormous amount of mana. In exchange, it gives Rudeus combat ability compared to the Fighting God’s Golden Armor.
8. Magic Armor Mk II
The Mk II is smaller, black and modular. It consumes less mana and grants physical ability comparable to a Saint-ranked swordsman.
9. Magic Armor Mk Zero
The Mk Zero is a decisive-battle model created for the Biheiril Kingdom conflict. It is stronger than the Mk I but consumes roughly twice as much mana.
10. Magic Armor Mk III
The Mk III is used during Rudeus’ later years. It stands a little over two meters tall and becomes the basis for later mass-produced all-purpose Magic Armor.

11–12. Stone Cannon Gatling Gun and Shotgun Cannon
11. Stone Cannon Gatling Gun
Roxy Migurdia and her specialist friend Jacqueline help create a weapon that fires ten standard Stone Cannons per second.
Rudeus uses it with the Magic Armor Mk I because its mana and handling requirements are beyond ordinary users.
12. Shotgun Cannon
After Orsted suggests a countermeasure for Water God Style practitioners, Rudeus develops the Shotgun Cannon.
It fires several Stone Cannons in one shot, making it harder for a swordsman to parry every projectile. Rudeus eventually replaces Aqua Heartia with the Shotgun Cannon as his main weapon when he is not wearing the Magic Armor Mk II.
13–14. Summoning Scrolls and the Scroll Vernier
13. Summoning Scrolls
Rudeus creates one-use scrolls that summon the Magic Armor Mk I. He can also prepare scrolls linked to hidden locations for emergency escape.
14. Scroll Vernier
Roxy later develops the Scroll Vernier, a device mounted on the back of the Magic Armor Mk II.
It stores folded scrolls and connects them to mana-activated controls near the waist. Five slots are available for each hand, giving Rudeus ten different scroll options without requiring him to open them manually during battle.
