As a child, Okarun tried to contact aliens because he desperately wanted a friend. No one answered, and the repeated bullying he experienced convinced him that he was incapable of fitting in with ordinary people.

As he survives increasingly absurd crises beside Momo, he becomes more confident, more decisive and far more capable of acting under pressure. His development affects both his personality and his fighting ability.
The nervousness never disappears completely, which is important. Okarun does not become compelling by turning into a generic fearless hero. He becomes compelling by learning to act despite the fear that once controlled him.

Turbo Granny’s consciousness becomes trapped inside a maneki-neko doll, creating one of the story’s strangest arrangements: the former enemy must cooperate with the teenagers while searching for Okarun’s missing kintama.
Okarun eventually regains what he lost, but he also retains access to Turbo Granny’s power.
The result is a voluntary transformation that places him between human and yokai. He remains himself, yet his body and temperament temporarily reflect the spirit whose power he carries.
Key distinction: Okarun does not simply summon Turbo Granny. Her spiritual power remains integrated with him, allowing him to transform and use her abilities directly.

Okarun’s transformed appearance is the complete opposite of his ordinary self.
His hair turns white and rises into a wild, sharply styled shape. Red markings extend from his eyes, while a mask covers the lower half of his face and displays a large exposed set of teeth.
His body becomes more muscular, and his fingernails and toenails turn black.
The design creates the impression of a lonely predator hiding inside an anxious schoolboy. In ordinary life, Okarun resembles a nervous sheep. When the transformation begins, he suddenly looks like the wolf everyone should have been afraid of.
His personality changes as well.
The polite, hesitant speech disappears. Okarun becomes forceful, moody and far more openly confrontational, as though Turbo Granny’s wild confidence has burned through the social filters he normally keeps in place.

Turbo Granny’s power gives Okarun a maximum speed of roughly 100 kilometers per hour, or about 62 miles per hour.
To put that pace into the original geographical comparison, someone leaving Hanoi at that speed could make an absurdly quick run toward Bắc Ninh or even attempt a rapid trip in the direction of Hải Phòng and return before most people understood what had happened.
The speed comes with equally sharp reflexes.
Okarun can avoid dangerous attacks, reach distant friends in time and overwhelm enemies before they can properly respond. He can move through several actions in a single instant, creating the impression that he is attacking from multiple positions at once.
Because much of the power concentrates in his legs, Okarun can produce rocket-like propulsion. He can also rotate his legs like helicopter blades long enough to slow a fall and keep Momo from crashing into the city below.

Okarun’s transformed body can withstand far more punishment than his normal body.
The enormous teeth displayed by his mask are not decorative. He can use them as a weapon, and he once bites through five fingers of the Flatwoods Monster.
His combat style combines speed, momentum, reflexes and sudden close-range violence. Rather than fighting like a trained martial artist, he turns movement itself into the weapon.

Limited Full-Power Uses
Turbo Granny’s power places enormous stress on Okarun’s human body.
He cannot remain at maximum output indefinitely. Once he reaches his limit, the transformation ends, his body becomes painfully exhausted and he may temporarily lose the ability to walk.
Training gradually improves his tolerance. As his body becomes more accustomed to the power, the injuries and recovery period become less severe.
One unusual limitation is swimming. Okarun cannot properly use the transformed ability in water because Turbo Granny herself does not know how to swim. In simple terms, he inherits what she can do—not an entirely new set of abilities created for his convenience.
Travel Through Telephone Lines
Okarun can move through telephone lines and telecommunications systems.
The technique dramatically increases his mobility, especially when combined with Turbo Granny’s speed. He can enter the system and travel toward another location almost instantly.
The route is not invulnerable.
Too many active lines can make navigation difficult, and an enemy can interrupt the journey by damaging the cable or communication path he is using.
Astral Projection
Okarun can also separate his spirit from his physical body.
He has not fully mastered this ability and may trigger it unintentionally. The longer his spirit remains outside, the weaker the connection to his body becomes.
